This i researched to give me ideas on how to film a torture scene and see what it might look like. Even though it is a mock one, the ideas and setup are still relevant.

My site specific project is based upon witch craft and how they used to be tortured. The site chosen was around Pendle hill, a place famous for witchcraft. I wanted to demonstrate how that the way the witches were tortured still goes onto today in a modern society.

I will create 5 different short films. Each of these are based on the 5 points of the pentagram. These are water, air, fire, earth and spirit.

Each of these film will be projected onto 5 different locations of Pendle hill. The 5 projections will be projected onto elements that relate to the pentagram. All of the locations are accessible via the route running through Pendleton to newchurch where on of the Pendle witches is buried.

The first location will be at the bottom of Pendle hill in Pendleton. The film is a water torture scene that is projected onto the stream.

The second location will be projected form the very top of Pendle hill. It will be projected into the air or possibly onto cloud. It can be scene from the road driving via the route described before. The type of torture that can seen on this clip is hanging which relates to the element of air.

The third projection location will be on the nick of Pendle. A bonfire or smoke screen will be set up at this location and the film will be projected onto smoke. The torture scene of this will be of burnt alive highlight the element of fire.

The forth film will be located again at the nick of Pendle. It will be projected onto a rock face showing someone getting stone to death. This will highlight the element of earth.

The final film will be located in newchurch in the grave yard of where on of the pendle witches (alice nutter) was buried. The film will be projected onto her grave showing torture of someone being buried alive. This will highlight the element of spirit.

Creating the hanging and fire scene

These will be done both by green screen.

The earth squence

This is going to be projected onto rock. The area chosen to do this is to the right. This cliff face is quite flat and will be able to be projected on clearly.

Both of these locations are also very accessible for driving.

The air Projection

The air projection the best way can be explained is like batman calling light:The projection of the video will be of a person being hanged, adding the element of air into the torture sequence. The project will be place at the top of pendle hill, and will be able to be view from the road. This is where the projector will be placed:

Water torture on location

This is what the video would appear as if it was projected onto the water. The location of this is N 53 degrees 51.118 W 2 degrees 22.353. It is just near the entrance of the bottom of Pendle hill

This is what the location looks like:

The projector will be placed facing down on the edge of the bridge projecting onto the water.

There will be 5 diferent idents filmed. Each of the idents will be showing the different forms of torture or death. The 5 idents will represent the 5 elements of the witchcraft pentagram. What they are projected on will also represent the pentagram

Earth-Projected on rock- Stoned to death

Water- Projected on water-Drowned

Fire-Projected on smoke-Burnt alive

Spirt-Projected on a grave (alice nutter maybe-a pendle witch)-Buried alive

Air-Projected in the sky- Hanging

An idea would be good if from the bird's eye view of pendle hill could make up the 5 points of the pentagram.
